These are fossil shrimps of the species Carpopenaeus
from the famous Cretaceous aged fossil beds near Hajoula, Lebanon.
Hajoula is over 900 metres above sea level. These fossil deposits were first mentioned
by the Greek historian Herodotus where he said there were "fish in the stones".
Many species of marine fossils are found in this famous area.
